My Aims

Within this project, I would like to acheive a successul music video which looks proffesional.

I have a general idea of what I want to create; a happy, positive song. I want to use a song called 'Sexy Lady' by Jessie J which doesn't have a music video because it is a song off her album. The reason why I also like the idea of using a song with no video is so that there are no expectations to compare it to, it is something that I have created with my own ideas. Although there is no music video for this song, it is used on an advert for 'Boots', a popular store usually known for the products sold there such as make-up. Some of my inspiration for my video comes from the advert. I like how it focuses on the women without any distractions.

The Brief

1. A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following three options:

•a website homepage for the band;

•a cover for its release as part of a digipak (CD/DVD package);

•a magazine advertisement for the digipak (CD/DVD package).

The two options highlighted are the two ancillary texts I have chosen.

Evaluation

For this transition task I have worked in a group with three other people in my class to remake 60 seconds of an existing music video. The existing music video we decided to remake was Stay the Night by Zedd ft Hayley Williams. At the beginning of this task we assigned each person in the group their roles, I was in charge of Mise-en-Scene. For my role I made a table which included pictures and descriptions of what we needed to include in our remake video for example a orange wig for the main role. After all our pre-production work was done we began filming, starting with the main part which was the shots with the singer in it. We used Talitha, who was also our director, as the main part as she fitted the characteristics of the part. For the two dancers in the video we also used Alex and Chloe, who were in charge of the storyboard and the lyric timings, because they were also ideal for the part. Alex was also used again for the piano player in the video.
Throughout this task I have felt confident that we all worked to our best of our ability therefore the good communication skills within our group we were organised and finished our project on schedule.

Though when it came to editing, we had to add in effects that were similar to the video. Our director in our group edited the video and eventually got similar effects used in the video.
This transition task has been fairly easy because I am also a film student so I understand the pre-production work that is needed to ensure filming and editing is planned. Although, next year I will be making the video on my own so I will be doing everything myself. I will have more time to plan and look into more detail when it comes to elements such casting and location.
This task has helped me a great deal. This is because, even though I am a film student, I felt more confident in filming and directing the actors where to stand and what to do. I was the camera operator and because of the camera training and previous knowledge I was able to film the music video correctly.

I thought that our music video was a success. We achieved everything that we wanted due to good teamwork and the skills that were needed to create this video.  The final product is produced to our best limit with what we had compared to the real video through the use of Cinematography, Editing, Sound and Mise-en-scene.

Before this task I was a little apprehensive about making the music videos at A2 because I was worried I would not produce a video as good as what I have seen from previous years. But after this task I am confident on developing into A2 because I have realised that as long as I am organised and on schedule then I am going to progress very well.
The best thing about my final product that I like is the effects that have been put on to match the ones in the video. I like how they are so similar to the original video which makes our final product look more realistic.

Overall I have really enjoyed this project because of the hard work our team did together to get to our final product. The final music video was success and reflects our work as a team and shows that we are more prepared for the A2 level. This task has also helped me as an individual to be more confident in filming and directing and will be more confident in projects like this.

CD Cover

Here I have created a possible CD cover for our music video. I made it simple because it is more is a more effective look by creating a colour scheme based on Talitha's hair, the main singer in our video.
